- Feeling of annoyance which quickly escalates to full blown anger
- Feeling of intense, unexplained rage
- Tantrums and loss of temper with no apparent cause
- Compelling feeling of anger accompanied by an urge to be violent or to lash out
What is withdrawal-induced anger and rage?
Feelings of unpredictable anger or rage are common for many who are tapering off psychiatric drugs. Typically, people report feeling easily annoyed and increasingly intolerant, feeling rage, or even feeling an urge to be violent. They indicate it is often not linked to an apparent cause, but just happens “out of the blue.” This symptom can be a source of deep concern to people who do not have a history of anger issues prior to withdrawal. Even people who report having felt appropriate anger prior to withdrawal describe the intensity of this symptom as “off the charts.”
