What is withdrawal-induced terror?
Terror is a common occurrence for many who come off psychiatric drugs. This often is experienced as an overwhelming sense of extreme fear, sometimes even accompanied by shaking or trembling. Some describe it as “being gripped and held in mental torture”, “completely off the charts”, “as if I’m about to die”. In these states, even basic tasks are described to be totally overwhelming.
